The fortnight long Adivasi Mela reached its 5th day. To pay homage to the “Father of Nation” – Mahatama Gandhi who fell down to assasins bullet on this day, the Mela observed the “Martyr’s Day”. There were no entertainment programmes in the evening. In stead of that, the devotional programme called “Bhajan Sandhya” was staged in the pandal. It started with “Ram Dhun” followed by music by gifted instrumental artistes. On the open air auditorium veteran singers, namely, Shri Dukhishyam Tripathy, Dr. Sangita Gosain, Ms. Gita Das, Dr.Suchitra Mohapatra, Ms. Sumitra Mohapatra, Dr. Adyasha Dash, Ms. Trupti Das and Shri Susant Panda, sang devotional songs to transport the listeners to a spiritual plane. As the holy tunes filled the air, the ambience became sacred and serene in the Mela.
In the Tribal Hat, Tribal Food Court, the Government and non-government stalls the business was as usual. Transactions in the stalls selling books, journals, souvenirs, tribal paintings, arts and crafts were encouraging. The demand for bio foods and herbal health products was good. The photo exhibition on history of struggle and development of Odisha tribes made in the stall of I & P.R. Department was visited by enthusiastic visitors.
