Adivasi Mela, 03.02.2012 (The 9th Day)

The State Level Adivasi Mela entered into it’s 9th day today. People from all walks of life came into the venue of the mela to have a taste of tibal life, culture, and economy for the distinctiveness of which the state of Odisha stands apart among all the states of India. The visitors appreciated the uniqueness of the tribal way of life recreated in the tribal village, tribal food court, tribal arts and crafts bazaar of the mela and returned home carrying the organic tribal products from the Adivasi haat, the tribal handicrafts from the crafts bazaar and testing the tribal delicacies from the food court.

In the evening, a social drama was staged in the open air auditorium of the Adivasi ground. This was drama with a distinction. It was staged by the gifted artists of the cultural association of the ST & SC Development Department. This play bearing a caption “CHAITU” had a powerful message to the society that is, the “eradication of a social evil of untouchablity” an issue which is still relevant today. It was directed by Shri Santosh Kumar Mohanty.

The performance of the stage artists touched the hearts of the spectators. All the artists were equal but among them one who was more equal was Shri Chitta Ranjan Hota, the central figure of the drama. The packed audience borne testimony to the appeal of the drama.
