Today is the 3rd day of Adivasi Mela 2012. This is a holiday for the auspicious occasion of Saraswati Puja. To celebrate the occasion and enjoy the mela there was a mad rush of visitors into the Adivasi Exihibition Ground. The evening cultural programmes of tribal dances enthralled the visitors and the tribalsí organic produces showcased in the tribal haat of the mela drew their attention to purchase these items. The business was brisk. People also visited the stalls set up by government Departments and undertakings where they got informed and at the same time found certain items to buy for themselves. The tribal village segment of the mela where The ITDAs and Micro Projects have recreated the material ethnic identity of different tribes of Odisha also attracted a huge inquisitive crowd.
The tribal dance programmes staged in today evening were the Dhemsa dance of the Paroja tribe of Koraput sponsored by the ITDA, Jeypore, the marriage dance of the Lanjia Saora of Puttasing sponsored by the ITDA, Gunupur, the Santal dance sponsored by Kaptipada ITDA, the popular folk dance of Thuamul Rampur in Kalahandi district and the marriage dance of the Paudi Bhuyan of Rugudakudar area of Deogarh district. The rhyme and rhythm of the performances revebereted the mela ground and transported the audience to the serene and joyful tribal world. The talents of the tribal artists were recognized by presenting them a memento of the mela.
The visitors crowded the tribal food plaza to get a taste of various ethnic food items and returned home happily carrying the tribal goodies purchased from the Adivasi Haat.
