The Adivasi Mela 2010 was inaugurated by Hon'ble Minister ST & SC Development, OBC, Minorities and Backward Classes Welfare Shri Bijay Ranjan Singh Bariha in the presence of Shri Tarun Kanti Mishra, IAS, Chief Secretary of Orissa, Shri Ashok Kumar Tripathy, IAS, Principal Secretary, ST & SC Development Department, Prof. (Dr.) A. B. Ota, IAS, Director, SCSTRTI & Member Secretary, ATLC, MD, TDCC and other distinguished guests, visitors and dignitaries in the evening of the 26th January i.e. Republic Day of 2010.
Hon'ble Minister & Chief Secretary visited the stalls set up inside the Adivasi Ground, Addressed the audience, inaugurated the publications of SCSTRTI & ATLC and also the website of Adivasi Mela 2010, felicitated the tribal talents and presented ISO Certificate to the Ekalavya Model Residential Schools of ST & SC Development Department. In their address they emphasized the need to develop the tribals to integrate them in the national mainstream.
After the inaugural ceremony Hon'ble Minister and Chief Secretary watched the colorful dance programmes presented by the tribal artists belonging to Gadaba, Desia Kondh and also Ghumura Dance of Kalahandi, Folk and Odissi Dance staged by the tribal students of K.I.S.S.
A motley crowd visited the Mela to enjoy the ceremonies, tribal dances and purchases tribal products for their own use. The Mela closed at 9.00 P.M.
