Adivasi Mela, 03.02.2011 (Ninth Evening)
 

In the 9 th day evening of the Adivasi Mela 2011, Hon’ble Minister of Panchayatiraj, Sri Prafulla Kumar Samal, Hon’ble MLA, Nilagiri Sri Pratap Sarangi and Chairman of Tribal Development Co-operative Corporation Sri Balabhadra Majhi had attended as guests of the programme.

In the beginning of the meeting, Hon’ble MLA, Nilagiri started his speech with a prayer to the Bharat Mela and described the characters of Ramayana and the fundamentality of the tribal culture. He said that in every age the tribals had worked for the mainstream of the society by staying in the backward. The tribals were the chief priest of firing the light of Indian nationalism. Simplicity, worshipping of earth goddess, trace deity are the characteristics of tribal society and culture. The development of the world is associated with the development of the internal qualities of tribals. He has expressed his strong willingness that our development can be possible with the timely development of their health and education.

Sri Balabhardra Majhi in his speech said that the arrangement of this years tribal festival is quite beautiful and decorative than the World Trade Fair of Pragati Maidan at Delhi. He had called for the people’s participation for the development of the tribals through the Integrated Tribal Development Agencies as the tribals are the wing of the forests. He said that the present government is committed for the educational development of the tribals and specific emphasis is being given on the girl’s education. In the evening programme, an American Researcher, Carry Jarkerihitechalk, who is doing his extensive research on Oriya language, Jagannath Culture, tribal consciousness was awarded for this inclusiveness in pure Oriya sife style and culture.

Then followed the cultural programme. The ‘Karam’ dance of the Bhumija tribals of Nilagiri region of Balasore district had attracted the visitors. The next attraction was the Bonda dance of the tribal artists of Mudulipada area of Malkangiri, Padmakesaripur Sevashrama, Ekalavya Model Residential School, Lain, Kuntala Kumari Girls Hostel and Students of Sundergarh districts had amazed the visitors. Large number of visitors had enjoyed the cultural programme and overjoyed.
